Cause Analysis of Rotary Kiln Blasting

A rotary kiln is a pyro processing device used to raise materials to a high temperature in a continuous process. The rotary kiln is the most commonly used drying equipment in cement plant. It is of simple and reliable structure and also easy maintenance, therefore it is used commonly. In our country rotary kiln is an important machinery equipment for industrial raw materials and energy processing and is a major force for the development of China's heavy industry machinery. It can easily adapt to and dry various materials. Development of iron ore concentration plant represents the technological level of China's heavy industry manufacturing, so it is of necessity and great significance to give vigorous support to enhance the production of rotary kiln equipment. In the usage of mining machinery, safety is the most important issue to be noticed. However, sometimes when the operator ignites the rotary kiln, it blasts. Why does this happen? What can we do to solve the problems? 

Generally speaking, blasting in rotary kiln happens in the following three cases:

Firstly, before ignites a new kiln, if the powdered coal is excessive, the kiln is prone blast after ignition. The way to prevent this is to minimize the amount of entering hot air before ignition to reduce the sinking coal. If hot air is a must, the operators could open the exhaust fan and discharge the pulverized coal out of the rotary kiln.

Secondly, if the temperature is too low during the ignition, the coal will burn poorly. When the falling pulverized coal reaches to a certain degree, it will intensely burn and blasting occurs. The way to prevent is to maximize the ignition temperature, shorten the ignition time and reduce the amount of coal.

Thirdly, when the rotary kiln is turned on or off temporarily, the temperature in the kiln reduces excessively, under which situation the kiln will blast when blows the pulverized coal. The way to prevent is to keep the time interval of the rotary kiln not too long. Before drying the kiln, operators should turn the kiln and keep the high temperature clinker top side. It is the most ideal situation to slowly turn the rotary kiln without making the raw material forward too much.
